  1. The major issue with nvidium is it is exclusive to modern Nvidia cards. Not everyone has an Nvidia card, and if you do have a modern one, you are one of the people that likely doesnt even need the mod in the first place.

  2. It's ironic to see that AMD gives more VRAM on their GPUs but doesn't support this somehow still midrange of Nvidia is still stuck with 8GB well it's getting better with 4070 but still 8GB vram was first on 880M for laptops and for deaktop on 1070 in 2016 and more emotional damage is that there are records for prototypes of 1060 having 8GB

  3. Nvidium + Distant Horizons does work last time I checked. Being able to see a few kilometres in any direction was pretty cool and you get the best of both worlds. However now that IMS is working on Distant Horizons v2 support for Iris, we already have shader packs like Bliss shading the LODs and applying what looks like shadows to the LODs, I don't think I would be using Nvidium anymore. Heck.. I haven't touched Nvidium for months following the first attempt at Iris-DH support. It worked pretty well with most shaders and the main issue with Nvidium is how unstable it was. I'm not sure if it's any better now so I might retest it.

In either case.. the lack of Replay Mod support for either of these two mods is my main issue right now. Which is fairly annoying considering that the Distant Horizons 2.0 nightly did work with Replay Mod for a few versions randomly which was incredible.

  4. I play mainly release 1.6.4 bc of game style preference, I hope for a backport of sodium for that version with legacy fabric.
Without optifine the max render distance is "far" which is 12 chunks.

I don't use forge and optifine as i currently use an incompatible mod that removes the internal server (like pre 1.3 versions) that fixes TONS of bugs and quadruples my fps, but if a backport of sodium, starlight and lithium comes out i'll be very happy.

  5. I'm kind of disappointed, as I thought you were about to learn us that mojang had actually worked on their game for once ; besides, I had already heard about this mod, and the fact that it requires such a modern GPU, much more so an Nvidia one, is too heavy of a drawback.

Also I'm pretty sure there's an equivalent Vulkan mod out there, that works for both AMD cards and older, unsupported Nvidia ones as well. Thanks for the reminder.

  6. I've had a tab open with the Nvidium page for about a month, unsure of whether I should use it, and this video pretty much cements that maybe I should try it.

Will add an edit with whether it helps or not
    (RTX 2060)

Also, more recent AMD GPUs support mesh shading, like the Radeon RX 6800, do you think it would work with that, or do you think it'll be a compatibility issue by that point? Like Nvidium is able to work specifically with Nvidia and not Radeon because of maybe diff architecture?
