3D Minecraft in Minecraft with no command blocks, no datapacks and no mods.
Features include an 8x8x8 fully 3D-rendered world with 16 different block types, 32 different items, and dozens of game mechanics including mining, crafting, smelting, building, chests, random ticks and more!

This was a team effort between myself, Uwerta and StackDoubleFlow.

While all the redstone can run on vanilla Minecraft, it would run at a frame every few days, and hence in order to make it playable a server called MCHPRS (Minecraft High Performance Redstone Server) is used to speed up the game to over 10,000x normal speed.

  1. Would like to clarify a few things:
    – This build does NOT run in real time. It runs on MCHPRS, the server developed by StackDoubleFlow, which speeds up the game roughly 10-20,000x while running redstone. That brings the framerate to a much more reasonable 0.1fps, so the long timelapses in the video only took 9 hours to record in total.
    – The world download currently in the description is non-functional for two reasons: in order to prevent content thieves such as Steveee immediately stealing it and making a profit, and also because Uwerta and I are currently improving the GUI system to be more similar to normal Minecraft (there's some dissimilarity in how items are moved around in the inventory). I'll update this comment when we release a functional download.
    – If you want to learn more about how it works, a brief explanation video is in the description, and that one has links to all the documentation including flowcharts for the GPU and other hardware, and the entire (commented) program itself.

    And yes, we will run DOOM on this hardware at some point, but projects such as these take a long time to create! After all, we are only 3 people working on this in our free time. Have patience until then 🙂

  2. After I saw this video. I've an idea about creating somekind of Verilog Synthesize Tool, PnR for designing digital circuit in Minecraft. As I'm currently learning FPGA (Magic programmable chip). It wouls be nice to have Verilog code synthesized into logic gates and then generates the actual redstone circuit. With this we can even built Risc-V CPU in Minecraft.

  4. Is it a dream? (totally unbelievable)
    I am not official electric circuit designer but it's a cool thing it's my hobby, and i am working on small projects like Data trigger, Set/Reset trigger, half adder using vlsi and it's still not easy for me, but what you did is still unbelievable for me!
    Edit: The Minecraft computers are going to the next level!

  5. Hey realy good video insane dedication but I would change the thimbnail because atleast for me when I looked at it it was too much maybe simplify it with a pc monitor anthrn a picture of u playing mc in mc in it
