  1. The number of unique colors is actually 16,777,216 on any modern computer. The Red, Green & Blue channels use 8 bits each (there's also an 8-bit alpha channel, but that doesn't affect this) meaning there are at most 2^24 colors possible. Your monitor physically cannot display more colors than this.
