if you dont want to open the gates to breed the animals, you can put a fence and a carpet on top. You can go in and out of their area but they wont be able to jump over 💜💜
That's such a smart trick to minimise the podzol
Interior copper oxidized first because the interior of caves are usually damper than outside the cave. More moisture= faster oxidation.

If you swap one of the oxidized trap doors from your mine entrance with one of the ones from your front door, it will help speed up the oxidizing of the rest of your front door
