  1. i think the reason why the change was reverted is for resource pack makers. having the doors 2D and tile-y would be easier to retexture than adding support for 3D model editing support into vanilla mc without using optifine. I wish mojang would add 3D model editing support into the vanilla game at some point so pack makers don't have to rely on optifine
