Minecraft is a constantly evolving game. But does it evolve enough? Too much? Don’t care, I’m gonna make some old mobs look more complicated and pretend to analyze Minecraft’s mob design in the process.

Now make a mod that has all of the new mobs look and act beta and have fun less realistic features
That’s kinda what makes old Minecraft good
Aaand your creepers still don't creep.
oh my god the new creeper is actually amazing, i wish theyd do it!
I just realized why for the last couple of years i have never seen minecraft as entertaining even in its mobs as i once did: This video and themetric it used shows why they push a few mobs a year too, it isnt lazyness, is that probably whatever idea they have once passing through this filter becomes so boring it needs to be scraped. If they are having the same thoughts as you while doing so: Worse even. How can you neuter yourself so fucking hard and still expect to do interesting shit? Yeah, sure, you have interesting creatures…For the first five seconds you see them, oh yeah axolotls can help you fight underwater!…when you have a trident and a sword that do a better job. I yeah you have now frogs and froglights!…That you can only get on mass by the time you dotn have anything more to do in minecraft, you wouldnt even look for them at the start of a normal minecraft adventure. This games becomes entirely a Sandbox game, and you know what? Thats fine, but that isnt minecraft, all people still get scared when a cave sound plays, why? Because minecraft is a SURVIVAL SANDBOX, where is the survival in this new age things? I cant see it to be honest, if at least your domesticated animals attacked things that where hostile, maybe they would have more of an excuse, but right now? I feel if they did this kinds of changes to old minecraft, the only thing that would keep alive minecraft would be the mods, because you wouldnt have any real reason as to why do anything interesting and dangerous, you wouldnt have the real thrill of having to survive the first days, having to overcome the few in the middle and overcoming it all at the end poem, what use is a Survival Sandbox, if a half of the game isnt truly fulfilled? I feel sincerely they should get rid of the book: No matter how much you try to become a real life help for your youngs if the kids will never be interested in the little details you put on anyway, they should stick to try and put that in the education version, i even believe your ideas are right that alley to explain certain fungi with the zombies, basic anatomy of the bones with the skeletons and the illagers idea, a way to explore animals and their interaction between one another with the changes you made to the spider, but they should never become what minecraft continues to build on when they have a base so diametrically opposed to it, but, lets wait and see, if i have this feeling with the next common enemy they ever release that isnt a gimick that can be foiled as easily as sleeping in your bed a few seconds, then we will truly see if what i say its true or not and may define how i continue to interact with this game, more after the rumors of a spiritual succesor to minecraft being made by notch, i will have to wait and see
Hytale is a fever dream, forget it already16:35
did you see Australia spiders?
Now that i am realizing you could have added many things to the passive mobs, i dont know if you didnt either because its too difficult or too artificial but: A heard of sheeps having one they follow and if attacked they all escape in the same direction. Cows having sudden burst to go against trees to relieve tension and if you are in the middle of it you get tackled, pigs tending to get together at bodies of water and comming out of them with the mud and quickly cleaning themselves to reveal maybe a piece of material. There are many things there that i feel werent really used or approached
27:14 bro you haven't seen a ghast! One was spitting fire balls at me this morning😭
Damn, your new chicken handled a netherit sword attack.
How much up does it have?
This should be downloadable I love the farm animal changes so much-
spiders can swim actually
5:24 you just made squidward-
I'd say the trend actually starts somewhere after 1.8; rabbits drop meat and hide and the rabbit's foot encourages killing a lot of them.
……Sculkers.
Thank you, thank you, you've been a great audience.
Man legit everything that's good would be gone due to these illogical design limitatio– ahem "decisions" lmao
i think you guys are reading into this too deeply, i dont think this video is aiming for ultra realism nor is it showing exactly what this guy personally wants in minecraft. its just a fun idea based on the 'rules' they have.
this isnt going to happen, you guys can stop taking it all so seriously
I feel like with the squid you could make the player collect the ink in bottles the same way dragons breath is collected. To discourage them killing it
Spiders with 6 legs is maximum level of realism for young impressionable kids😅
This actually makes me want them to redesign the mobs a little
I think for creepers I like Creepers Overhaul mod's approach of having many biome themed creepers
Creepers in my opinion for being such an iconic mob are really lacking in natural variation.
Let's take a tour of some overworld mobs, shall we?
Zombies:
•Come in baby and adult varieties.
•May spawn as zombie villagers.
•Can be husks instead.
•Can be drowned, which may or may not carry tridents.
•Zombified Piglin are definitely a variant in the internal logic of the game.
•Sometimes spawn riding chickens as babies.
•Some spawn with weapons or armor.
•Some are left-handed.
•Some can pick up items.
•Some spawn reinforcements.
•Some get extra health and really high chances to spawn reinforcements.
•Some are converted villagers.
Skeletons:
•Spawn with or without armor and enchantments.
•May spawn as strays.
•May spawn as bogged.
•May spawn as Wither skeletons.
•Sometimes spawn riding a spider, including spider variants.
•Spawn on skeleton horses from skeleton traps, with better iron equipment.
•May pick up items.
•May be left-handed.
Spider:
•May spawn as cave spiders.
•May spawn with potion effects.
•May spawn being ridden by a skeleton.
Slime:
•May spawn at a variety of sizes.
•May spawn as a magma cube.
The creeper has some of the least variation I can think of compared to any older mobs.
"Bad things should only be the player's fault"
In my opinion this guideline holds the simulation and ecology of Minecraft back. It wants a world that does not do things on its own that the player might not like, which in reality means it kind of wants a static, inert world that does not do anything unless you make it happen.
Listen, I thought this would be redesigning things to look like new mobs, and maybe deleting the creeper, not whatever the f this is
Ok here's my idea for skeletons:
•Lich: an ancient Illager that has decayed beyond death yet is still animated. Use javelins and bows from a past era of earlier technology, but those near woodland mansions are very powerful and use magic.
•Crisp: a piglin burned to charred bones by lava or blazes. Like piglin, have an unhealthy obsession with gold. They awaken from their death slumber at greater distances around gold and chase down anything that has it. Steal gold directly out of your inventory including any gold armor.
Their attacks may deal fire or wither depending on the variant. Upon death, rarely summon a withered soul which inflicts Wither on contact, is aggressive to almost everything, avoids your cross hair, and can fly.
•Shambling bones: a construct made of bones. No two are completely identical in shape and size. Most are asymmetrical. They may have weapons or may throw pieces of themselves until they run low. The pieces slowly find their way back to the thrower. Can be created by the player but are not loyal to the player. Rarely, a village will make large, friendly bone golems wielding a ballista instead of iron golems. If so, this village will completely lack iron metal technology of any kind.
The lamb looks like a "(•[_]•)" emoticon
With farm animals, I would say, don't have them be as passive as they currently are, and have more spontaneous but more complex breeding mechanics:
1. Occasionally breed under favorable circumstances without player input (but not enough to create a flood of them).
2. Not be possible to breed in large numbers without some amount of resources or at least space to keeping the existing ones alive, happy, healthy, and fecund.
3. You know, occasionally having pigs charge and gore things, sheep charge and ram things, cows charge and gore and trample things, or chickens jump and kick things would be a nice feature as well. I would not be opposed to them being neutral or even occasionally hostile mobs. Have you ever gone up to a wild boar or cattle? They're not exactly safe animals.
4. Pigs should naturally dig up certain items like the sniffer does. Chickens should naturally propagate bamboo on occasion if there's not too much around, and lay more eggs due to bamboo.
ah, yes we have to make killing thousands of spiders is not encouraged, so lets replace it by repeatedly waterboarding spiders. To Be Humane!
They should add goats Edit: I forgot they already added goats and btw I changed make to add so I'm not the only person in the world who knos that useless piece of information
Ok, so the thing is, we still need something to fill the role of threatening and fast and highly mobile arthropod that might occasionally poison you.
And while spider variants are probably off the table, being neutral unless you hurt them, one thing I could see adding would be some other insects that are pretty menacing. Mosquitos come to mind. A big mosquito that lands and then can fly in and drink a few hearts off of any living mob, then going back and reproducing in shallow water after they have eaten, would be a nice way to encourage the player to keep a few spiders around. Maybe even different types since a jumper will do better in some environments while an orb weaver or a wanderer will do better in others.
