Minecraft’s April Fools updates are a pretty interesting part of the game’s history. With their outlandish features, they are some of the most interesting versions the game can offer. Some more interesting, some less, they show that even a tight and compact game like Minecraft can sometimes step out of its comfort zone and go wild. But one of those updates sticks out among the rest and has much more going for it than it might look like on the surface. A concept like infinite dimension generation seems pretty simple on paper and uninteresting. Heck, Minecraft already does that when generating a world, but this update is different. This is the Infinite Dimensions snapshot, named 20w14infinite.
In this documentary, we’ll be looking into the liminal aesthetic of 20w14infinite and why it’s a bit creepy at certain times.
Also, I’ve seen many people saying that I stole the video idea from RetroGamingNow and his video about the update. That is simply not true. I’ve started writing the script of this video on the 25th of May and editing it on the 1st of June (as it is stated in the outro), but RGN’s video was released on the 18th of June, so this is just a coincidence.
