Redstone has been a part of Minecraft for over 10 years. Sometimes Mojang gets it right, but a lot of times they seem to miss the mark on adding new redstone features. Let’s look at the history of these hits and misses with @Purplers to find out if Mojang really understands redstone…

uh, i don't blame them 95% of the player base doesn't understand redstone.
Last song?
Thank God he doesn't know how many dislikes are in this vid
CraftyMasterman,
could you teach me about higher level redstone so you can make a new video, i'm quite good but i whant to learn more
I remember Ethoslab speculating about the skulk sensor and how he thought it should behave. He came up with a really neat idea to make it programmable, where you could put the sensor in listening mode and then save a sound. It was a much more flexible use and i suspect if the idea had been implemented (if possible), then the component would have been a lot more popular.
Lifestealapp??? O_O the mrcube6 craftymasterman duo can be real
Aaah
This is actually a really good video essay love the editing and how it was stitched together even if it just about redstone in minecraft LOL. Great job my dudes.

Didn't even realise this was a lifesteal application until I looked at the tags
6:00 u mean to subscribe to Purplers?
Mojang has this recurring problem, that they didn't had back then.
They try to make even the most complicated items, understandable by everyone. While the regular Joe would have no interest in understanding it in the first place.
It seems to get better for example with the skulk. With an easier version that just open doors magicly. And a more complicated version that does more stuff. And best part is that all the buff did not affected the deep dark.
Sadly it's still not enouth, and end up being way too convoluted. Simple yeah, usable Idk. Sending a signal in and only filtering the right sound is cool. But is your right sound actualy filtered out from the other sounds? While with a filter mechanic a bit more complicated you could really chose a specific sound.
Allay is the same, but past filters it's main use does not work. Because they tried to make it simple for noobs. But it doesn't work. At all for it main purpose.
As for redstone I wouldn't be so harsh on them. Redstone has changed a lot since 1.16. Without major additions. And in the end they are still adding new uses and niches in the game.
Plus a target that retarget redstone. Make some sense right? It's not totaly out theme. And it's also the mist versatile way of detecting a projectile. There is other ways. But when you need one the target block is nice.
Same for the bookshelves. The main use is cool enouth that I wouldn't mind it not being as useful. Make for a great secrete combination entrance.
Now for most of the other changes. When they did something wrong they backtracked. And for the pistons. I think they are blocked by the fact transparency is both tied to redstone and lights. Although the lag was definetly a problem.
Sure I see where y'all are coming from, but all these niche uses are very opaque and unintuitive, that's partially the reason so many people can't do redstone, and 'intended' bugs cause frustration. So this approach to updating only leads to less and less of the community caring about redstone. Meanwhile blocks like sculk sensors bring a whole range of possibilities and sparks imagination.
a
this is such a well made video
bravo!
wow, this feels like a Purplers video ngl
1:37 you mean red stoners right?

good vid
99:59:59 best part!
Lol
Yo great video, keep it up man, and just a quick question, what is the name of the song u used in the outro?
I just hope we will be getting a"block placer/breaker" just like in the aprilfools snapshot cuz it would make redstone way more interesting for new players and it gives redstone way more options❤
Still sad to think that copper doesnt has a use for redstone…. you guys even forgot abt the lightning rod wich can detect lightning strikes…. use less..
hope that mojang will add more redstone components based on copper
This vid is so much fun to watch, keep it up!
First time watching one of your videos, just popped up in my recommended today. I can barely keep up with what you say cuz not only do you two talk fast, but also for some reason as soon as you finish speaking a sentence you immediately start speaking the next one, like, not even a tenth of a second break between sentences to let the viewer process what they just heard, and it's hard to digest it all. My humble suggestion: please slow the hecc down
Pretty good informative video otherwise
All this redstone talk of things going not quite as planned makes me wonder though, are there any mods or particular resource packs that do a really good job of adding new and interesting solutions to redstone problems?
I like your video
saying that in 2:32 the honey block was recent is actually not, it was added in 2019
1:33 Target blocks area target for redstone
"QoL changes fix old problems and New features make new problems" is the best way to put it.
Yeah for example, a redstone update i think every redstoner would be hyped about is movable block entities. Just think, we could finally make movable sources of tnt without having to resort to duping. Though in that same update, they really need to introduce a mechanic to obtain sand renewably.
Maybe also give crafting tables hopper-support finally, so we can build autocrafting machines.
