  2. This is very weird that he needed to edit in the achievements, while you can just revoke the achievement using minecraft built in command and then get it again when entering the end the second time.

  3. How are runs going to be able to be analysed for cheating when there are so many undetectable ways to cheat?
I mean – if microvenger had have checked the possible crate possibilities – or double checked the math on the dragon perch – or edited the splices together more cleanly, then he wouldnt have ever been caught
just got caught because the methods he used werent perfect – very slightly sloppy
but if another bad actor was more diligent with their cheating – it could theaoretically be "undetectable"
    sad 🙁
something needs to be done – like some sort of mod that monitors everything – like they did in trackmania

  4. The penalties for cheating need to be massively increased. Like…have it in the terms of service of YouTube, Twitch, etc. that if you're caught cheating, not only are you kicked off, but you must repay those services every cent you ever earned from them – even before you were cheating. All subscriptions, bits, direct donations, memberships, superchats, stars – and not just your cut, but the full amount the people that did something that got you money paid. All ad revenue as well – not just your cut, but the full amount the companies who advertised paid to run the ads that showed on the cheater's channel. I want to see those who were proven to have cheated with no possible doubt as to said cheating be bankrupted in the process.

  5. Gotta be honest, I really can't get myself to care about Minecraft speedrun cheating scandals when the "official rules" for the runs basically allow you to straight up cheat in a dozen different ways.

I said this quite a while back – probably a couple years back at this point – when they were initially discussing "pause rules" and throwing around the argument of unlimited pausing helping people that get stressed out easily, but like… when you think about half of the things they for some reason allow from the perspective of "what kind of blatant cheating does this make essentially legal?", it gets absolutely ridiculous.

Like, for quite a while there, it was (and honestly might still be? I honestly stopped keeping up with minecraft speedrunning rules when they decided to allow external tools to do math…) ENTIRELY LEGAL to pause at the start of a run, find your new world folder, copy it over to a secondary PC, load it up there, look around it in creative/spectator mode, mark down the exact co-ordinates of stuff like strongholds, nether fortresses, portals, villages, etc., and then go and play your "random" seed with total prior knowledge of it, because the "pause rule" was literally "unlimited, no facecam requirements, you can totally go afk for 20 minutes at the start of the run and just say "it was because I was stressing out that I had what looked like a good seed".

It's like having a trivia competition where you're just allowed to blatantly google search all of the questions and answers. It just feels so utterly pointless. So hollow. It's why I disagree with the Minecraft speedrunning community on a fundamental level. Because… we're talking about competition here. No one's going to look at something like the Olympics and go "I think they should allow someone with 2 robotic legs to compete in olympic running competitions because they should be inclusive" – When it comes to competition, you NEED standards that create a competitive environment. And the MC Speedrunning community has just shown time and again that they're just blatantly not interested in actually being competitive. So… I find it hard to care about cheating scandals that involve them, because like, honestly, what's really the difference between "cheating" and "legal cheating" – They both minimize skill requirements and allow people to do really stupidly ridiculous stuff that no one should really be able to actually do under the concept of the category.

It's fine if it's a specific category – One of my favorite categories in speedrunning is Getting Over It's meme% category, or w/e it's called. The one where the LONGEST run wins, and it doesn't even have to be entirely the game. But when it's your main categories allowing what's basically blatantly cheating? External 3rd party tools, essentially allowing you to alt tab and do whatever you want which can totally include y'know, checking the entire seed in a separate game instance, etc.? It just… removes any and all feeling of "prestige", y'know? Like, Speedruns are supposed to be "how far you can push the game", not "how far can you push the game by calculating everything you do and see with external calculators and prior knowledge of something that you're not supposed to have prior knowledge of.".

  6. that something they should do is maybe have some client or something for every single speedrun that can detect mods and cheating ect. so every time any run is submitted the admins run it through the client which is an antimod/cheating program on a PC which detects foulplay on a run and anytime a mod was used that program automatically detects it. and those runs will never make it on the leaderboard. especially since some mods in games cant be detected even by pro speedrunners and admins. so to detect those fake runs they should run them through a program which will just detect them for them so they dont submit fake runs to the leaderboards by accident as its happened so many times due to mods and cheating being detected. also the program could detect what kind of mods were used to so speedrunners can learn new ways of cheating in case they need to detect them later as well. i have a feeling that may be the direction speedrunning is going one day. where everything will be going through a PC client as an anticheating software to detect these things

  7. Probably a dumb question, but why not make people submit their game files or something like that to ensure that anything they changed would show up? Probably not that easy haha, just looking in from the outside.
