All of those custom machines are a form of a shulker. This means you can’t place them with a solid block above it. This is why they are teleporting on you
Go in one of the rooms and there is bow target 🎯 in the village I highly recommend shooting ig

Found the village a few days ago but I missed the chest on the second floor of the church. I didn't go up because in a normal village there are no chests in the church, lol. I should have known better! Guess I'll be going back to the village, lol.
