Minecraft Viki (video wiki) ➜ https://minecraft.viki.gg

  1. Sorry but I believe you comparing apples to fish. Most of your examples are different sizes, made from different blocks and from different updates. It’s not exactly fair to compare something as small as the un-puff puffer fish to something as big as a turtle ofcause the turtle is gonna be more detail but I do agree with you when it comes to the structures as currently it’s boring as hell walking around the over world trying to find something

  2. Bats have the potential to become a real good and useful mob or even a boss?! They are already incredibly detailed and very well planned mob. We will see in future updates😱😱😱

  3. i dont disagree with most of this but i feel like the new mobs are more consistent than you give them credit for, especially with the pufferfish where you only used the deflated texture which matches the other small mobs pretty well (except the bat) instead of the inflated one which i think matches the turtle very well in terms of style and level of detail. to me it seems like theres 3 distinct levels of detail for the different sizes of mob and the worst problems show up when they sort of mix them up, like how the bat which is very small is drawn more like the cows and pigs, and how striders which are pretty large almost look like giant turtle heads because of the flat colors and tiny eyes. again youre totally right that a lot of it is inconsistent that part just sort of bugged me lol

  4. My reasoning behind thinking a lot of these art differences are completely fine is the story telling element, having a balances, and functionality.

With structures, I think that there is nothing wrong with most structures. For example, an igloo, which is made of snow by seemingly one individual, should not look like a castle or be extremely detailed; it’s a remaining structure that seems semi recently abandoned and was maybe an experiment hub. A desert well is a primitive structure showing the lightest hint of life in a “dead” biome. A bastion, however, is a crumpling but active fortress housing semi intellectual creatures that actually go out and hunt, collect items, and gather together to store their loot. It makes sense why an igloo is so small and not complex while a bastion is.

However, I do agree that some things could use changes. For example, the nether fortress should be improved at least to some degree. It was an impressive fortress built by ancient abandoned hands and should be crumpling, or should have a few more part to it.

With mobs, I think that balancing simple mobs and complex mobs makes it work. Sure, Zoglins are extremely detailed in comparison to pigs, but they also added the simple pufferfish, and the Hoglins are not over texturized or complex (in my opinion). Having this balance of simple mobs and more detailed mobs spices up the world building and storytelling/beauty while still housing the OG.

With some random elements, it again mostly falls into one of those reasonings. It makes sense that warped and crimson wood doesn’t burn; they grow in the nether. A large flammable plant would not evolve well in a world of fire, ash, magma, and lava. I understand that a fungi based tree is strange, but there are so many other plants around them that are purely made up that helps tell a story of a world with plants unlike those on earth.
The chests and crafting tables on one hand should have different colors. But on the other hand, with the chests it would either be strange being able to connect a birch and crimson chest together or annoying if you had to make every chest in your massive storage system out of the same wood.

Anyhow, that’s my two cents at least. I agree in each category that some sort of balance could/needs to be restored and some things don’t make sense, but on the other hand, and lot of things mentioned do make sense and I don’t see a problem with them.

  5. Honestly, with the 1.16 update they were too lazy to make the old texture pack work with the new wither blocks, the nylium looks totally different with the old netherack, because of the fact that they didnt change the art, it looks disgusting to have 2 fairly similar blocks to have a totally different texture. Though this is really only a problem on Java lol.

  6. Some of the new art and textures look bad to me. I always took the reused textures and simple pixels as the style. This game was originally created by one guy in Sweden as a passion project. The new art messes up that vibe and make the game feel less personal and more corporate.
