FYI Ive since discovered a couple things:
Infested stone generated in pockets of the grimstone below Y0
Ore shapes/clusters seem to be the same 🙂

Don’t forget this update is called “Caves and Cliffs”, meaning there is still plenty more to come. I am just excited to see the new cliff generations!!!
Grimstone lapis looks very dark might be hard to see hope they boost the saturation on the blue or something
If Mojang want to add stratergy to mining they need to add an item in-game that tells you what level you are on. Many people don't know about the F3 menu on Java or the coordinates tab on Bedrock. I don't know how they could do it but this is the only way that they could add stratergy to mining in a way that doesn't involve "cheating" the game itself.
When did we have copper?
The big caves look way too rare. They better change up normal caves too.
I wonder if we'll be able to convert old worlds to 1.17.
I don't want to dump my map from 2011…
I have a feeling they will nerf ore spawns or make it more balanced further down, by either increasing mob spawns greatly (or adding enemies like the warden) or by making ores less common next to air blocks, so less will spawn inside the big caves.
The new terrain generation reminds me of block story, would be cool if they added some hell beasts at super low y levels.
Personally, I think the new ore textures just don't fit the game as well as the old ones.

They should make Ore textures for Granite, Diorite and Andesite
Grindstone looks oddly like Tinkers smeltery bricks.
because of the new generation for ores, at least ill i have a strip mine for each ore that goes to a different y-level
All these updates make me feel like they are going to add more bosses after the enderdragon and items that are better then netherite…
i cant be the only one that hates the new ore textures. iwill probably get a texture pack to remove them when the update comes out tbh
That "buried" lapis seems interesting, i wonder if they'll do something like that for other ores
