  1. Thank you for this. I have tried modding MC before and got absolutely frustrated on how complex even the setup videos are, being taught by someone who is fluid in code and assumes they are teaching people with the same experience. I am far from stupid, but my dyslexia causes me major problems in comprehension, especially digging through code. I have taken programming classes before, even in college and did well in them even though it was a real struggle when the code suddenly turned into a wall of text and I become utterly lost. So I really appreciate that your tutorial was right to the point and I was able to follow without much trouble.

The only issue I had was the first time I tried /reload it didn't do anything. Then I realized the files hadn't been saved as nothing was mentioned about it in the video. Kinda silly, I know, but I thought I'd point it out for someone who may not realize it. Since it wasn't mentioned in the video, and opening already saved/created files, I didn't know if the program autosaved the files. After trying the reload it obviously didn't. 😆

I'm really looking forward to seeing what other videos you post for this series. I've had ideas for years of custom blocks and things I want to make for MC, many of them are for builders and to underp the game in that respect but also to have custom models to start building the world I want to play in. But the thing that catches me up every time is the coding. I know it shouldn't be hard once I understand what's going on, I just need step-by-step help until my dyslexic mind starts to catch on.

So far I think you are doing a great job. 😁👍

  2. If you are having issues with /reload, try typing in /datapack enable
after you type that out, there should be something along the lines of "file/datapackname"
after doing all of the steps right, it should look like /datapack enable "file/datapackname"
from there the datapack will be enabled and now /reload will work

I was having an issue with this, I watched two different videos and rewrote the code atleast 5 times before I figured out what was going on.

  4. Not sure how, but I must be messing something up somehow. When I go to "Open Folder" and type "%@Data% in the search bar for VSC, all I get are the files/folders in the original extracted folder, none leading to a .minecraft folder. Also, for some reason, I cant see you doing that portion in the video! I just see the blank VSC!

  5. I didn't download the default data pack file in the description. I tried to make my own just the same as yours and it worked except that the load.mcfunction file does what the tick.mcfunction file should do and the tick.mcfunction file doesn't work at all. Any suggestions? Otherwise, though this is the best tutorial I've ever seen for data packs and you explain everything so well! Thank you!

  6. (for anyone that have the issue that its doing nothing)
make sure you save ALL VSC files opened, the program doesn't save all of them, just the one you have opened at the time

  7. Had a big issue myself here. Neither capin kill's comment nor the video really told me but apparently your folder name (in the video "tutorial") MUST be all lowercase. It kept saying illegal characters found and it only listed the lower case a-z, 0-9 and some special character. So be aware that it MUST be lowercase.
