New Skins

New Skins in Minecraft
Bringing natural diversity and representation to the game, Minecraft has added 7 new default character skins.

Hanging Signs in Minecraft
Craftable by combining chains and signs, hanging signs are going to be a part of Minecraft. You can place them on the side and even the bottom of the blocks.

Bamboo Wood and Rafts are Here
We are getting a new family of wood in Minecraft featuring their own planks, blocks, and more. You can also use bamboo wood to craft rafts in the game. They work just like boats in Minecraft but are more open looking in appearance.

Chiseled Bookshelf
After crafting a chiseled bookshelf, you can store regular and enchanted books in them. They also interact with the Redstone components

Camels
Camels will be coming to minecraft 1.20! These desert creatures will be able to hold two players. They are also capable of speed boosts and leaping a great distance.

Minecraft 1.20 is going to bring 100% more camels into the Overworld! We will also be getting hanging signs, functional bookshelves and craftable bamboo, and all four features will be available in Java Snapshots and Bedrock Betas shortly! Agnes, Chi, and Nir share their inspiration for the upcoming update and deliver a first look demo. Over the coming months, we will be releasing more information about Minecraft 1.20, so keep your eyes on our channels!

  1. I honestly have a feeling this update is the refresh/ quality of life update. They might add feedback requested items from the Minecraft feedback page and idea requests

  2. community: stahp announcing too many things you're putting stress on yourself mojang!
mojang: we know and we regret that decision we will now only announce stuff that will 100% get into the game
community: dam i wish they announced more..
    me: use your brains plz

  3. More are coming I thought this is what the community wanted?? Toxicity makes no sense… Sure they could've worded things better, but they specifically said more stuff would be coming.. They are keeping our expectations low so that we get new features added we know that are coming!!

  4. Although I love this update it does make me feel slightly disappointed/underwhelmed with it as I have been waiting almost a year just to get a small update like the buzzy bees but a tiny bit bigger

  5. To all the people that are being rude and saying this is a disappointment, Get your ears checked and listen to what they say in the stream. Only showing features that are nearly complete, Mojang doesn't deserve backlash for trying their best to please such an ungrateful and Needy community! All they are trying to do is make this update polished and free of controversy but clearly you all won't let them have their own game without feeling like an awful developer, each and every one of them is working on features for everyone to enjoy and y'all act like it's the end of the world that they didn't announce everything all at once, but the issue with that is that they did that last time and you all flipped out on them for scrapping a birch forest update that they never even confirmed for the game in the first place, i love you Mojang <3 hopefully your community becomes better over time, doubt it but i do still hope

  6. To the people that are saying archaeology could still be announced I highly doubt it. They said they would like to show more complete features and if archaeology doesn't atleast have some of its features complete yet despite it being worked on since 1.17 then it isn't coming in this update or perhaps eventhe next

  7. At this point Minecraft might as well be a Bethesda game. Modders do the devs work for them, modders do the work faster and often modders work is done better, is higher quality and includes way more content, than the dev's ever do. Minecraft has the same problems that Skyrim and Fallout have, bugs that don't get fixed for years on end, content that gets scrapped for little to no reason, a lot of false promises, and modders are the ones who pick up the pieces and fix just about everything and in a timely fashion as well. Mojang and Microsoft have more resources than any modder could ever have and yet the devs continue to fail where modders succeed. This is the real issue here, the entire dev team does less work in a year than a single modder does in a week. Add to that the fact that some in the community are making and releasing fully functional mods on a regular basis that are the size of several updates all the while going to school and in some cases raising a family and having all manner of responsibilities. The developers at Mojang have no excuse and the community is going way to easy on them. Of course don't send death threats. But we also have to remind them of their failures and push harder to convince them to fix these issues or they won't change for the better. I'm not sure if it's greed, laziness, or both. But they aren't exactly doing a good job anymore. Sure I love the addition of Camels, the new signs and the few other things we are getting. But that's cookie crumbs at the end of the day. Drip feeding very small bits of content and expecting paying costumers to accept it and praise them, just like many other devs do these days. I wish I could say I'm sorry for saying this but the truth must be spoken and the truth need not be apologized for. I don't like saying bad things about video game developers but at the end of the day I'm a paying customer, our purchases of their products is what pays their bills, and if we don't speak up they will walk all over us and take our hard earned cash all the while laughing all the way to the bank. Every big business does this if you allow them to, and whether you want to admit it or not, Minecraft, Microsoft, and Mojang are a big business that makes boat loads of cash daily. We as paying costumers get run over of we don't express our concerns to the fullest extent of our ability.
