netherite armor has better enchanting ability as diamond, same like iron. if you do netherite first you have a better time enchanting. on the othger side, you can use your good gear to find ancient debris. I never saw 2 mending trades on one villager that I call nice, even it is not so useful its a good flex very unique

what about thorns? adding thorn 3 to the helmet and boots requires the enchantments to be done in some (multiple ways) specific order. just adding an enchantment book by book would be too expensive
You should have enchanted the armor after you turned it into netherite. It gives you better enchantments

Just to let you know, the max amount of ancient debris in one vain is 3, not 4.
A worthwhile (and simple) upgrade to the gold farm is to auto-smelt those gold swords in a blast furnace for a few extra stacks of nuggets! You'll only need one buffer barrel/chest so your hoppers dont back up
