I remember I used to play on an smp with my friends and one day while I was mining in my personal mine at my HUGE base that was detailed and had all sorts of cool little things in it with redstone and building hacks (that I learned from this channel btw thanks) I came up to see that there was a lightning storm where the little town was, where my house so happened to be at. And if you haven't guessed yet, my house had already burnt to the ground and there was no possibility of fixing it. So the lessons I learned were: use a minimal amount of wood and just build underground.
