For the wither skeleton head thing. You can actually make a wither skull farm completely in the overworld. All you need is a stray and a charged creeper

While potions are great against unenchanted armor as soon as you have prot 1 or anything higher they start doing a lot less dmg as the dmg reduction from protection protects you from potions as well.
