I feel that this update will be nice, but underwhelming for me since I've been taking a bit of a small hiatus from Minecraft for a few months, and haven't really played with the 1.18 features, so I'll most likely be exploring for those and maybe the ancient cities.
I want to believe that the birch forest concept and maybe fireflies will make it into a future update. I really do. Birch forests feel very outdated for its looks, as well as the oak (and dark oak) forests. I feel that those are in need of a overhaul someday.
Maybe it will happen before the savannah and desert are updated, maybe afterwards or after combat is updated. Maybe they'll come in another update split into parts. Only time will tell.
