Minecraft Viki (video wiki) ➜ https://minecraft.viki.gg

In Minecraft diamonds have basically always been found at Y11. Minecraft 1.18 will be changing everything, but Minecraft 1.17 might have also made a big change. There’s a new best level to find diamonds at. In this video we run a few tests and talk about the big diamond generation change in 1.17.

  2. In those deeper caverns are going to be the dangers of mobs especially if its hard to see in the dark as in my screen. They say Y6 is slightly better than y5. From some ore distribution images I've seen, Diamonds will be rare above y0 and bit more common in deeper areas.

  4. So question. If I have a world that I made the day 1.17 came out and I’m on bedrock. Would I have to find a new area I’ve never been to find diamonds or would they be added into my mine area on there own? I have a huge mine set up close to my base and I’d love if I could keep using it instead of traveling hundreds of blocks away to start a new mine.

  5. One thing is, don't diamonds spawn in smaller veins near bedrock? It may not just matter how fast you find diamonds but it matters how big the average vein is from the level you mine at.

  6. i spent a couple of hours lookin around with x ray on (figured that be a better way to test this out) since they are random, there doesnt seem to be a "best" Y level anymore. but they are lower now for sure. out of all the diamonds i could see, the majority of them were between Y-6 to Y-9 . but if we think about it, the main reason why we used to mine at Y-11 was not cuz we could find the most, it was cuz lava pools started there. it was just the safest. but yea anyways , 6-9 seemed like the best Y level to get "lucky" finding them fastest. but of course just depends on where ur at, one day u might have bad luck, and another day have great luck.

  7. Garbage video, garbage test. Diamonds are still located around Y10/11. You could have easily downloaded an X ray mod and just checked what was the average height, but nope, had to suck those sweet >10 minutes. The missleading intro doesn't help.

  8. Please have a look at LogicalGeekBoy's video about the diamond ore distribution. It seems to be a common misconception that there are more diamonds to be found at y5. The reason always seems to be a too small sampling region (LogicalGeekBoy Sampled about 50 mil blocks and there is no significant difference between y 5 and 11)
