The Minecraft 1.17 Caves and Cliffs update was announced at Minecraft Live 2020 and it is by far the most wanted Minecraft update! People have been asking for a Minecraft cave update for years!
If you can’t wait for the official release of the Minecraft 1.17 Caves & Cliffs update in 2021, you can download the latest snapshots and try it out for yourself from the Minecraft java launcher.
Minecraft 1.17 Cave and Cliffs update snapshots are free to download and they are almost always released on Wednesdays.
Instructions:
Open Minecraft Java, under Minecraft: Java Edition, select Installations.
Under versions, select Snapshots.
Select New, name the installation, create a new game directory (preferably in your Minecraft folder, fill in your preferred settings and then press create.
Go back to the Play tab, in the bottom-left select your 1.17 installation and press play.
Once Minecraft 1.17 has loaded, you can create a new world and look all of the new blocks and new cave generations that will be added over the coming months.

Since "pre releases" minecraft tells me that it "has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 60.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0"
, but this version doesn't exist for macs on Oracle website for some reason, the latest one shows up is april 2021. And it never said to me that my OS is too outdated for it or anything, because I running on High Sierra, the latest my mac can install. So right now Im extremely frustrated and confused by the lack of ANY information about it on forums and social media, like Im the only one with that problem.
