  1. Guys, before you comment on this, please actually watch the whole video. Pippen brings up some extremely valid points in the video that I've actually never heard someone say before regarding this topic. The point that sparked my interest the most was the the small, incremental changes Microsoft has been making to the franchise as a whole. A tiny change may piss someone off for a while, but it eventually wears off to where it becomes normal. These changes like migration and chat reporting happen just far enough in between that it wouldn't cause a major backlash that would hurt their revenue stream. Microsoft would've otherwise pushed all of this from the beginning, which would obviously result catastrophe.

I've actually had this thought regarding this in the back of my head for the longest time, but didn't really think too much of it. But now I realize that it should be blatantly obvious that Microsoft likely has an end goal with this. And like Pippen said, I hope I'm 100% wrong.

  2. Java minecraft is old and will continue to become unstable as Javascript gets phased out of software.
-why don't microsoft just convert it to C then?

    They did
    It's called Bedrock Edition
And one day it will be the only minecraft you can buy.

  3. I am very likely wrong, but weren't they pretty clear from the start, that bedrock will replace all console editions in an attempt to only have 1 code base on all of them?
Like, it was never secret that all other console editions will be shut down at one point.

  4. I play bedrock because.
    -Performance My PC Is Potato
-Crossplay with my friends on xbox and playstation (awesome feature)
    -Cool Features Not on Java
-Bedrock is just easy with a Microsoft account tbh.
-Like same experience from my phone to laptop

  5. Its time we switch to MineTest. It has versions on mobile and pc, is 100% open source and moddable via lua, making modding a trillion times more easy to mod, and runs really well on machines as old as a pentium. Has support for texture packs, shaders, and more. It is not perfect, but the open source nature makes it likely that it can become more than minecraft ever was.

  6. If they really delete the whole java editon, then I will just play Hytale instead of Bedrock. That would be a better choice instead of paying for every singe multiplayer thing to do on bedrock 😐 And thats probably what kinda most of the playerbase will do, so if Microsoft actually does this it will only end badly for them.. Good video, though!

  7. He's not wrong. The momentum generated by Microsoft's invasive updates seems to have been lost. So long as they maintain this strategy, Minecraft may become barely recognizable in a relatively short amount of time.

  8. Another thing from a tech standpoint is that the current design of Java edition is very limiting. A large swath of the player base is on old hardware, preventing a renderer upgrade which would allow things like true RTX and smoother rendering and FPS. Because of this, there was a big push with new hardware to switch to the windows bedrock edition to take advantage of the new renderer. But if they just drop the whole of Java, they don’t have to worry about people on old hardware, because they won’t exist as players anymore

  9. Very compelling argument, tho I see one positive side if jave stops being updated, and that is that the modding community would have no other version to worry about hopefully making it the version with the most modding support, now if they stop selling it entirely, we're all doomed

  10. I can't believe that this is the way java players look at bedrock as a cash grab to the PC port while many of us cannot own a PC because of the price. I feel offended by this community basis.

  11. Honestly. As much as them not supporting Java would suck, giving it to the community is what is going to turn it into the best game ever. Imagine if we got a team of content creators, modders, and others who made "Official" Minecraft versions using mods that we can all update to, but then on top of it still have full mod support? Bedrock is Microsoft's Game. Minecraft is our game.

  12. I grew up on the Xbox 360 edition.

In 2019, it got its last feature update. It's now officially discontinued. While you can still buy it, it isn't updated.

When I started playing Bedrock, I hated it. Microtransactions in games always turn me away. I got Java edition and only play Bedrock still because it's the only version my partner has. I'm absolutely sure they're doing the same thing that they did to the legacy console versions to java. Microsoft has a history of doing whatever they can to stay on top. No matter what.

    I miss the old minecraft.
