MINECRAFT STEVE HAS OFFICIALLY BEEN BANNED IN SMASH ULTIMATE

Minecraft Viki (video wiki) ➜ https://minecraft.viki.gg

IT HAS HAPPENED! After Super Smash Con 2022 (or should I say Super Steve Con 2022??) it seems that the Ban Steve movement is trending. Some regions have made the decision to remove Minecraft Steve from Super Smash Bros Ultimate in light of Onin and Acola’s recent dominance. Thoughts??

  1. Def Jam FFNY, a 20 year old game that I've never watched, randomly popped up at CEO with and was suprisingly successful despite banning over half a dozen characters. They were deemed to have far to obnoxious an advantage against the game's also massive cast. Not once did I think "man, I wish the competitors just stuck through it and kept grinding the matchup."

Unless the dev team reopens the possiblity of small balance changes to round out the very sharp edges, this should be an active discussion throughout this year.

  2. Honestly, I read a comment that said banning him too late will kill the game and that's honestly a good point. Just like with Brawl Meta Knight they banned him once everyone was playing him and now the game is dead because no top players can play. But unbanning him makes it were no one else can win without using Meta Knight.

So I feel like with this info we should just ban Steve, like if we don't we kill the game if we wait too long then ban him we kill it. Either way ends with him killing the game. If we ban him worse case we got rid of a character and the game goes back to being interesting and better players win. Best case we saved the game from dying. Banning him doesn't really have many downsides and not banning him does.

  3. What's the point, everyone is always like it's too early and by the time those people are ready is when it would be too late and those people seem to be the only ones tournament organizers listen to. So just let the game burn. The game will be dead and they will be wrong for the 3rd game in a row. I'm tired of arguing with all those unreasonable Steve apologists.

  4. Damn there are so many Steve apologists. Looking like a 80%-20% Ratio with 80% being Steve apologists and 20% being reasonable players. Like this why Brawl and Sm4sh are dead. Maybe it isn't the TO's fault. They are just listening to the majority.

  5. This ban is far too hasty. Yes, the signs are clear that Steve is growing, but Steve is also the most unique, complex, and diverse character in all of Smash. Nobody REALLY knows this matchup yet. The most complex character happens to be top tier. Of course Steve is gonna dominate for a while, because nobody really knows this character.

  6. Whine instead of learning the match up… Very high level gameplay. This is truly a showcase of skill. Who needs to adapt? Learn the game more thoroughly and try different approaches?? Nahhh. That's for bad players, obviously. If you just whine hard enough and get a character banned because you don't like it, then that's the TRUE showcase of skill. Love the path the fighting community has chosen πŸ™‚

  7. I don't think Steve needs to be banned. We have a GARGANTUAN sized roster here, maybe start making use of some the "mid tiers" that everyone only says are mid tier because they don't see them often. Who knows, they might actually be good. Yeah, 9 Steves in top 64 is a lot, but you wanna know how many Meta Knight's were in top 64 of Apex 2012? I'll tell you, TWENTY-THREE. That is nearly HALF THE BRACKET. Until we reach that bad of a level, bans shouldn't even be in discussion. We have plenty of characters to mess with, and Steve has weaknesses. Instead of saying he should be banned, we should be looking for some counterpicks, instead of relying on the same few top tiers for everything

  8. People put here banning Steve but people let Sm4sh Bayo ruin the game to it's bitter-end lol.

I do think between Steve being really weird and polarizing, and the fact that as a character he is also polarizing (lots of people like Steve but there's a ton that see Minecraft man and just feel rage that he is in smash), he also has alot of hate that doesn't even stem from being overpowered.

  9. IMO it is nonsense to not consider banning judging by what the community didn't do in the past.

Bayo and Metaknight should have been banned but they didn't. In any case this should be an incentive for the community to decide to ban Steve, knowing what went down before when they decided to not ban those characters.

I do think Steve should be banned, and this is in no way trying to disrespect any of the Steve players. People keep saying that the community has not labbed out the counterplay to Steve yet, and I do think that's the case. But the viewership will take a hit if the meta becomes Steves and Kaz all top 8.

  10. I rather see bayonetta banned and preferable deleted from smash all together NO ONE asked for bayonetta to be in smash and no one plays her games either
